Evan Follmar is a Michigan based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator who specializes in drum set and percussion.
The Beginning…
Evan began his musical exploration by taking piano lessons from his grandmother at age 8.
In his early years as a student he was a member of symphonic bands, orchestras, jazz groups, vocal choirs, marching bands, drum corps, heavy metal bands, pop groups, and many other varieties of alternative music projects.
He was notably a tenor player in Legends Drum and Bugle Corps and studied music at Grand Valley State University. Additionally, he helped lead the marching band at Reeths-Puffer High School to two state championships as one of their drumline instructors.
The Middle…
Since those days Evan has played in a multitude of musical outfits, performed as a street musician, instructed countless percussion students, composed many songs and pieces, and influenced a plethora of artists and musicians.
He has shared the stage with Mike Dillon, Thundercat, Marco Benevento, Gordon Gano, Keith Urban, and Charlie Hunter, as well as many other artists.
Now…
Evan currently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he records as a studio musician at River City Studios, writes and records his original experimental jazz, rock, and folk music, teaches at Firehouse Guitars, and performs around west Michigan with multiple groups.
He is well-known in the area for playing drums, synth, and singing all at the same time in his duo band, T.H.V. He also plays regularly in professional event bands, jazz groups, and improvisational groups, and is open for booking.
